As a member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), Cornerstone Church is a Bible-believing, Reformed and evangelical congregation in the heritage of historic Christian orthodoxy.

BIBLE BELIEVING

The beliefs that we hold all stem from a commitment to the Bible as God's Word, our only infallible authority in faith and practice.

REFORMED

The word "Reformed" comes from the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century, and we are thankful to be part of the Protestant tradition in its rich theology, piety, and practice. A historic declaration that explains what we believe is the Westminster Confession of Faith, along with the Larger and Shorter Catechism. "Presbyterian" means that our church is governed by a group of shepherding elders (presbyters) and we are connected to other churches and elders in our region (presbytery).

EVANGELICAL

The word "evangelical" comes from the word for "good news." We believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ is good news for all people, and we desire all people to trust in the saving work of Jesus and enjoy eternal life in him.

HISTORIC CHRISTIAN ORTHODOXY

Finally, we are simply a Christian church that holds to the ecumenical creeds such as the Apostles and Nicene Creed as a summary of our Christian faith. We share communion with all who believe in the Triune God—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—and confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Below is a very brief outline of our beliefs:

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, the revelation of God’s truth, and is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice.

The Trinity

We believe in the Holy Trinity: one God, infinite and unchanging, who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Humanity and Sin

We believe that all people are created by God in His image, but are now sinners and are totally unable to save themselves from their sin. His free grace alone provides a way of salvation.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who through His perfect life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection has atoned for sin.

Salvation

We believe that the only way to reconciliation with God is by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

the holy spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells God’s people and enables them to trust Christ and follow Him. Faith is the gracious gift of God.

icons_church.png

the church

We believe that the church is the covenant community of God and the sphere within which the grace of God is available to all, through the preaching and teaching of the Word, and the administration of the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

icons_wolf-lamb.png

the return of christ

We believe that Jesus will return at the last day, bodily and visibly, to judge all mankind and to receive His people to Himself for eternal life.

the christian life

We believe that all aspects of our lives are to be lived to the glory of God under the Lordship of Jesus Christ as we wait for the day of his glorious appearing.
